Port Townsend

Explore North Beach
Looking for a great place to hike or relax on the beach? Catch some awe-inspiring sunsets, go beachcombing for sea glass, and find tidal pools to explore at North Beach. Enjoy a hike at North Beach during low tide and you’ll find your way to Glass Beach. (Make sure you bring a bag to collect beach glass and check the tides so you don’t have to swim back!) If you’re lucky, you might even encounter a baby seal or an orca during the spring (but don’t touch the baby seals, ok? It’s against the law!).
Whale Watching with Puget Sound Express
Head out for guaranteed whale sightings with this family-run business. On the Olympic Peninsula, perched at the confluence of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Puget Sound, Port Townsend is an ideal departure point for whale watching cruises. Visit Fort Worden
Fort Worden offers additional sandy beaches and great hiking trails. You can explore the Point Wilson Lighthouse, the military cemetery, and the commanding officer’s quarters. Originally constructed between 1898 and 1917, this fascinating historical park offers 433 acres of beachfront, hiking trails, and breathtaking views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
